چکیده
persistently low-level parasitemia among asymptomatic immigrants is probably higher than previous estimates. Screening for malaria among immigrants long after arrival would help determine if there are any factors that infl uence the development of clinical malaria. Delayed screening could also be particularly relevant in certain risk groups, such as pregnant women and persons who are HIV positive. As a public health measure, such delayed screening could play a role in preventing outbreaks or reintroducing malaria in countries where it has been eradicated.

Antigenic Variation of the Haemagglutinin Gene of the Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 Virus Circulating in Shiraz, February-April 2013
Background: A new pandemic influenza A (H1N1) emerged in April 2009, causing considerable morbidity and mortality. Since mutations in the haemagglutinin (HA) may influence the antigenicity and pathogenicity of the virus, continued epidemiological and molecular characterization for the effective control of pandemic flu and developing of more appropriate vaccine is crucial. Objective: To monitor ...

متن کاملSwine Influenza A Vaccines, Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 Virus, and Cross-Reactivity
To the Editor: Since its first emergence in the human population in spring 2009 (1–3) infections with pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus have been reported in pigs, turkeys, and some carnivore species (4,5). The pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus can be experimentally transmitted between pigs (6). The reported transmissibility of the virus raises the question as to whether authorized swine influenza vaccine st...
متن کاملNovel Swine Influenza Virus Reassortants in Pigs, China
During swine influenza virus surveillance in pigs in China during 2006-2009, we isolated subtypes H1N1, H1N2, and H3N2 and found novel reassortment between contemporary swine and avian panzootic viruses. These reassortment events raise concern about generation of novel viruses in pigs, which could have pandemic potential.
متن کاملExperimental infection with H1N1 European swine influenza virus protects pigs from an infection with the 2009 pandemic H1N1 human influenza virus
The recent pandemic caused by human influenza virus A(H1N1) 2009 contains ancestral gene segments from North American and Eurasian swine lineages as well as from avian and human influenza lineages. The emergence of this A(H1N1) 2009 poses a potential global threat for human health and the fact that it can infect other species, like pigs, favours a possible encounter with other influenza viruses...
